What Does it Take to be Successful as an Online Learner?

If you're interested in taking classes through your computer, or if you're interested in pursuing a degree by using your laptop or tablet, in lieu of a classroom, you can do that, and be successful. To be successful as an online learner, you're going to have to get organized, have great computer skills, equipment, and follow through.

As you pursue your goals for your degree requirements, or even if you're just taking a class or two through your computer, you can do so, but you have to be sure that you have the right equipment in place, such as MS Office, to be sure that you have MS Word, for all of your documents. You also want to ensure that you have good Internet access, and that your internet works consistently. You also want to make sure that you're able to use a regular computer where you can save information such as documents that you were working on or any research that you were looking at.

Another requirement that is crucial to pursuing course work through your tablet or laptop, will include that you get organized, and set aside time where you can have maybe a few blocks of hours each week so you focus on homework. You also have to factor in time to read, and prepare your work that you have to turn in, and depending on the type of class that you are taking, you may have certain requirements based on a particular course as your professor has deemed appropriate, where you may have to, for example, turn in different types of work on different days. For example, your professor may want you to send in or reply to 3 different assignments that were submitted by your classmates, as well as doing your own homework, and replying to that as well with a follow up later in the week. As each course is different you will have to check through your syllabus.

Lastly, you also want to ensure that you have good follow through, meaning that you finish each course requirements strong. To be successful in online learning, you have to ensure that you have not slacked off and in the areas, that all of your projects have been turned in, that you have communicated with your professors and with fellow classmates, for overall success as you study for your classes online.
